Our Story: Two Friends, One Passion, One Purpose

Hi,

We are Muaadh and Sameer, two friends from Yemen who met in Germany while pursuing our studies. Though life took us far from home, our hearts remained rooted in the mountains of Yemen, where coffee is more than just a drink—it’s a way of life.

Our families come from Taiz and Ibb, regions once known for their lush, terraced coffee farms. These areas, with their high altitudes and fertile soil, have the perfect conditions for growing world-class coffee. But like many parts of Yemen, they have been deeply affected by years of instability, lack of infrastructure, and limited access to resources. Farmers in our hometowns are struggling to maintain this heritage, often facing immense challenges to grow, process, and market their beans.

It was our shared passion for coffee that brought us closer together, and over countless cups, the idea for URBUN Coffee was born. We wanted to create something that goes beyond just selling coffee. We wanted to build a bridge between Yemen and the world, to reconnect with our roots and give back to the communities that raised us.

At URBUN, we work hand-in-hand with farmers from regions like Haraz, Al-Hayma, and soon, our own regions of Taiz and Ibb. Our goal is to highlight the beauty and complexity of Yemeni coffee, not only through its flavor but through the stories of the people behind it. We believe that great coffee starts with great relationships—with farmers, with nature, and with culture.

Every bag of URBUN coffee is a step toward something bigger: preserving Yemen’s coffee heritage, empowering farmers, and sharing the richness of our homeland with the world. We’re proud of where we come from and excited about where we’re going.

This is just the beginning.
